CAPITAL YACHT POLICIES:
Attire. What is the dress code on Capital Yachts?
Check with your group leader or event planner! Our cruises are usually casual, however evening cruises or functions are usually a little dressier. However, we recommend that women not wear high heels... and definitely not narrow high heels!
Boarding. What is "Boarding Time" and "Cruising Time?"
"Boarding Time" is the earliest our guests may board the ship. Typically we begin boarding 20 minutes prior to the cruise departing. "Cruise Time" is the time you are scheduled to depart. The cruise organizer may choose to delay the departure for late guests, and begin the event dockside.
Cancellations. What is your cancellation policy?
For most charters a 50% deposit is standard (check your reservation form for details). These funds are fully refundable until 30 days prior to the cruise date (if the charterer cancels the cruise within 30 days, CYC will use best efforts to re-book the Yacht (and, if successful, a full refund will be given). Otherwise, the charterer will be entitled to credit the amount towards a future cruise (minus any costs expended for catering). The remainder of the funds are due on the cruise date. We cruise rain or shine (some of the best skies are just before/after precipitation!). In the rare event the Coast Guard prohibits cruising because of weather, we will contact you to make other arrangements.
Children. Are there any age requirements?
No. We've accomodated people from 2 to 92 years old, and they all seem to have a great time!
Coast Guard Regulations. Is the vessel Coast Guard certified? Insured?
Yes. All our vessels are Coast Guard certified and maintained regularly to adhere to strict safety regulations. The vessels are all insured for damage and liability too.

Directions. How do I get to the ship?
All yachts are based at Washington Marina, 1300 Maine Avenue SW, near the foot of 15th Street in Soutwest Washington, DC. Your cruise will begin and end there unless your host or invitation indicates otherwise (occasionally we pick-up groups along the Georgetown waterfront, at Old Town Alexandria's Waterfront, or at Mt. Vernon.) Click here to see directions/maps from the Metro, by car, and for Motorcoaches.
Drinks. Food. Etc.
On most of our tours, beverages and snacks are available. Café lunches, hors d'oeuvres and a wide assortment of catered options may be arranged by your group or event organizer.
Gratuity. Is gratuity included in the ticket price?
Gratuity is subject to the discretion of the passengers. No gratuities are required or otherwise included in your bill.
Groups. What size group can Capital Yacht accommodate?
The Capital Yacht fleet can host parties and groups from 15 to 125 guests.
Handicap Accessibility. Is the ship handicap accessible?
Yes. Several of our yachts can accommodate wheelchairs for boarding and restrooms. Please notify us of any special-assistance members in your party prior to the cruise so we can provide the appropriate assistance upon arrival.
Menu. What type of food is served?
Depending on the cruise and arrangements made, our cruises can feature all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffets prepared by our chef. We can accommodate requests for kosher meals as well as special meals for guests with allergies. Please call us to request a menu.
Parking. Is there parking close to the Yachts?
Yes, paid parking ($10) is usually available immediately in front of our dock. FREE parking is available along the curb/sidewalk in the evening after 6:30pm and on weekends. Please double-check the signs when you arrive. There is also a large number of spots for Coaches [standing only] along Maine Ave.

The remainder of the funds may be paid on the date of cruise.
Phones. Will my cell phone work on the cruise?
Yes, your cell phone will work on the cruise. For the comfort of other guests, we ask that cell phone conversations be held only on the outside decks.
Refund Policy. Do you offer refunds?
We regret that the deposit funds are not refundable if cancellation is made within two weeks of the cruise date. However the deposit can be credited towards a different cruise date or time if available. In the event that extreme weather or the Coast Guard prohibits cruising for some reason, we will contact you to make other arrangements.

Seasickness. Will I get seasick?
It is highly unlikely. The Potomac River is a protected water way, meaning that it is not a broad, open expanse of water such as a bay or ocean. Therefore, the winds and waves tend to be modest. Seasickness is extremely rare.
Seating Arrangements. How is seating arranged on board?
Our yachts feature comfortable seating both on the upper deck, where there is likely to be sun and breezes, and on the lower decks which are climate controlled. Seating is unassigned and on a first come basis.
Ship Information. Can you tell me a little about the ship?

In addition, each has an open-air observation deck. All Yachts are handicap accessible and Coast Guard approved. They also feature multiple bathrooms and flexible seating arrangements.

All interior areas of our ship are non-smoking areas. Passengers who smoke may do so on the outdoor observation decks.
